Asphalt Shingles

Asphalt shingles are by far the most popular roofing material choice. They are inexpensive, easy to install, and can be removed quickly, making repairs easier and more affordable.

Asphalt shingles consist of a base made of either fiberglass or felt paper, which is coated with a layer of asphalt, and topped with ceramic granules. This creates a lighter material, but still offers considerable protection and strength to your roof, as well as fire protection.

There are two types of asphalt shingles: three-tab and architectural shingles. Three-tab shingles are designed to look like three pieces, but are actually one single piece. Architectural shingles feature an additional layer of asphalt, which adds dimension and allows them to mimic the look of wood or slate shingles.

Green Roof

Slate

Flat vs. Sloped Roof
