SINGLE-PLY MEMBRANE

Single-ply membrane, like EPDM or TPO, is one of the most common types of commercial roofing materials. Single-ply membranes are sheets of rubber and other synthetic materials that are adhered to flat roofs on commercial buildings.

If properly installed and maintained, a single-ply membrane roof can last for 30 years. TPO is generally white, and its highly reflective material can help cut energy costs during the summer. EPDM on the other hand has a dark color and can draw in heat.

PVC

PVC is a type of single-ply roofing membrane and is one of the most popular commercial  roofing materials. It’s incredibly durable and resistant to fire, chemicals, and wind. PVC roofing is also reflective, which helps regulate temperature.

METAL ROOFING

Metal roofing is a time-tested commercial roofing material. It’s chosen for both it’s durability and weight and can last around 40 years. Unlike a membrane roof, metal roofing gives you options in terms of design and style. There are a wide range of material and color choices, and you can even have your metal roof imitate other roofing materials like tile. Metal roofing holds up in high winds, snow, and hail, and is less prone to fire damage.

BUILT-UP ROOFING

Built-up roofing systems are a very old type of commercial roofing system and are commonly referred to as “tar and gravel” roofs. They are created by alternating layers of asphalt or tar and supporting fabrics, with a final layer made of stone or gravel. It’s a low-maintenance type of roof and provides UV protection.

SPRAY-ON ROOFING

Spray-on polyurethane foam is a type of roofing material that starts as a liquid spray and then instantly expands into a foam that hardens into a solid layer. It’s an eco-friendly way to apply a new roof over an editing roof, though it’s a relatively uncommon commercial roofing choice. It waterproofs and provides insulation, but it does require regular maintenance and inspection, particularly in a snowy area like Indianapolis.
