Bruising is just what it sounds like — dark, discolored spots on your shingles. Bruising is one of the most common forms of hail damage, and while it can be simply a cosmetic issue, bruising can also be a sign of more significant hail damage. If you notice bruising, contact a roofing company.
GRANULE LOSS
Granules are the particles on the shingle that act as a protective layer for the shingle itself. Without granules, your shingles will age much more quickly and need to be replaced. You can look for bald spots on your roof or check your gutters and downspouts to see if any granules have come off of your roof.

You may not have a good view of your roof from the safety of the ground or porch, but you should be able to see your gutters. Look for dents and other signs of impact.
